Encheres Occitanes auction house, in Montauban, in collaboration with our experts specialized in free valuation and free appraisal will auction an early 17th century oak carved chest front, Friday 2nd February in Montauban.


Façade de coffre en chêne mouluré et sculpté (fentes), à décor tripartite représentant l'Afrique, portant en son centre une jeune femme allongée au cerf dans un médaillon encadré de sphinges, les montants sculptés d'un chasseur et d'un pécheur en pied.

XVIIe siècle (parties rapportées).

Note :
Le décor du médaillon peut être rapproché de l'allégorie des quatre continents gravés par Crispin de Passe de Oude au début du XVIIe siècle.
