Encheres Occitanes auction house, in Montauban, in collaboration with our experts specialized in free valuation and free appraisal will auction a French mahogany marquise stamped Georges Jacob, Friday 23rd June in Montauban.

Marquise en acajou et placage d'acajou mouluré, à dossier et accotoirs en enroulements, les consoles d'accotoirs en colonne détachée fuselée baguée et godronnée, pieds antérieurs fuselés surmontés d'un bulbe et postérieurs en sabre (un anté restauré, restaurations). Estampille de Georges Jacob, reçu maître le 4 septembre 1765.

Circa 1795

Haut. : 91 cm -Larg. : 91 cm - Prof. : 76 cm.

Note :

Notre marquise est caractéristique des sièges produits dans les ateliers de Georges Jacob à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. On retrouve en particulier le dossier et les accotoirs à enroulements ainsi que les pieds fuselés surmontés d'un bulbe ou les consoles d'accotoirs en colonne détachées. Georges Jacob débuta sa carrière par des productions Louis XV. Fournisseur de la Couronne, il exécuta et livra de nombreux sièges pour Louis XVI et Marie-Antoinette ainsi que pour le Comte d'Artois. Il marqua également de son empreinte le style Directoire en livrant notamment des sièges pour le peintre David.
