OEP encheres auction house, in Rennes, in collaboration with our experts specialized in free valuation and free appraisal sold at auction a French Consulat mahogany armchair atributed to Georges Jacob, Saturday 27th January in Vezin-le-Coquet.

 

Fauteuil à dossier plat à enroulement en acajou et placage d'acajou mouluré et sculpté de vagues, garniture de bronzes ciselés et dorés (rapportés). Les consoles d'accotoirs en balustre reposant sur les pieds antérieurs tournés, bagués et sculptés de denticules terminés par des griffes de lion et les postérieurs en sabre (chocs et restaurations).

Attribué à Georges Jacob, reçu maître le 4 septembre 1765.

Epoque Consulat.

Haut. : 97 - Larg. : 61 - Prof. : 51 cm.    

 

Georges Jacob, reçu maître le 4 septembre 1765, fut l'un des principaux fournisseurs de sièges du Garde-meuble sous Louis XVI et continua à prospérer durant la période révolutionnaire puis sous l'Empire, il réalisa de nombreuses commandes pour le Garde-meuble impérial.
