After Antoine-Louis Barye, a mythological patinated bronze

Note :
Le modèle de notre bronze est conçu par Barye en 1849 et exposé au Salon l'année suivante.
Barbedienne achète le modèle lors de la vente Barye en 1876, lot 715, et en réalise quatre réductions et un agrandissement grâce au procédé Collas. Notre épreuve correspond à la troisième réduction qui apparaît dans les catalogues Barbedienne de 1877, 1887, et 1893 puis dans ceux de Leblanc-Barbedienne de 1905 à 1925.
