Matthieu Semont auctioneer, in Orleans, in collaboration with our experts specialized in free valuation and free appraisal will auction a French late 19th century Louis XVI style ormolu chandelier attributed to maison Millet, holding 2twenty four lights, Saturday 16th November in Marseille, auction of the whole content of a property in situ.

 

Important lustre à vingt-quatre lumières sur trois rangs en bronze ciselé et doré, à décor de guirlandes de feuilles de lierre et feuilles d'acanthes supportant trois putti souffleurs (manque une trompette), mufles de lion, chutes de fleurs, guirlandes de chêne et glands, passementerie, fleurons, têtes de bouc et pampres de vigne.
Attribué à la maison Millet. Style Louis XVI.

La maison Millet fondée à Paris en 1853, spécialiste de la reproduction du mobilier du XVIIIe siècle, exécuta des meubles et bronzes de très haute qualité. Elle reçu de nombreuses récompenses, en particulier une médaille d'or à l'Exposition universelle de Paris en 1889 et un grand prix à l'Exposition universelle de 1900.
Notre lustre est une réinterprétation du lustre livré par Pierre Gouthière pour le cabinet doré de la reine Marie-Antoinette au château de Versailles dont un dessin préparatoire est conservé au musée des arts décoratifs à Paris.
